  1. BUILD NUMBER SENSE WITH ABACUS BY ARYAAN KUMAR

  2. ABACUS FOR KIDS An abacus is a great way to build number sense in children. First, though, you need to have the right kind of abacus. This is the ones with all the rainbow colors are pretty, but we want to make sure our abacus is colored in a way that is going to help our children start to subitize or to see quantities without having to count one by one. Once you have get into the correct abacus for maths, introduce it by modeling counting by ones as you slide them to the left. We read an abacus just like we read a book, left to right. So any beads on the left are considered ‘entered’ and represent the number we want to sow.

  3. SHOW ME NUMBER ROUTINE When you have introduced the abacus for kids, it is time to get a number routine that you can use in the various ways on a daily basis. A number routine is a simple one, structured routine that can be repeated regularly, but with different content as children progress in their skills developed. This simple routine is called Show Me. Students will start with just numbers 1 to 5 and simply say ‘show me’.. then the number you would like the child to show you.

  4. PROCESSING STEPS The child then slides the beads over to the show that numbers. The eventual goal with this activity is that they will slide the numbers over as a group and not have to count one by one. However counting is a great place to start with. If they seem to get stuck on counting start to encourage them to use the least number of pushes to show students the number.

  5. PART-PART WHOLE It is important for children able to understand that numbers can be done broken up into parts. For eg, 5 can be broken into 2 and 3. There is a simple way to target this with the show me routine on the abacus classes. You will be simply ask the child to show you a number using the methods above , but you will ask them to use the first two rows of the abacus things.

  6. PROCESSING STEPS There are many other techniques, which can be done using an abacus and this is why most parents try to enrol their kids in abacus maths classes. These classes will mostly help children develop a strong passion towards maths and they will start practising the subject with much liking and dedication towards it. In this lockdown, explore new learning math for children by clicking in the abacus masteredmonton for bright knowledge insights Thank you…...
