  4. E.G’s of websites to browse stuff. • www.buyandsell.ie(Usually second hand) • www.ebay.ie • www.autotrader.ie • www.ticketmaster.ie • www.amazon.com To see if a particular company has an online shop, just go to www.google.ie and type in their name.

  5. eBay Inc. is an AmericanInternet company that manages eBay.com, an online auction and shopping website in which people and businesses buy and sell goods and services worldwide. • In addition to its original U.S. website, eBay has established localized websites in thirty other countries. eBay Inc. also owns PayPal and Skype.

  6. A website. There is no physical eBay store. Founded in San Jose but now operated from several cities, eBay's service exists entirely online. • Free for buyers and inexpensive for sellers. It costs nothing to become an eBay member, to shop for goods, or to purchase goods from eBay sellers. (You need to be a member, to either buy or sell on Ebay.)

  7. Sellers pay a minimal amount to list items for sale, and another small percentage of the value when an item is sold. There are no monthly fees or other hidden costs. • Like the real world in many ways. Just as you'll encounter both honest and dishonest people in the real world, you'll find both honest people and crooks on eBay.

  8. Security precautions.Caveat emptor. • Learn as much as possible about the product and the seller. (Reviews/ comments) • Understand the sellers refund and return policies. • Use a secure checkout and payment process. Many web sites use a technology called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt any personal and financial information sent over the Internet. (Paypal on next slide) • If an offer sounds highly suspicious or too good to be true, then it probably is!
