  1. Jeremy Seppi ENGL 393 5 / 11 / 2010 How To Online Shop Using Google Product Search

  2. Introduction • This presentation will teach you how to comparison shop using Google Product Search, a utility provided by the Google search engine. • Anyone looking to purchase an item through an online store may complete this process • This presentation is designed for a beginner audience, who knows how to navigate the web using their browser but may not know their way around the Google website. • The only possible safety concerns are to not strain your eyes by sitting at the computer for too long. • Materials you will need include a computer, and an idea of what product you would like to purchase

  3. Step 1 • Go to google.com and type a description of what you are looking to buy into the prompt

  4. Step 2 • Click the link that says “Shopping” at the top of the page.

  5. Step 3 • Find the product that best describes what you are looking for and click “Compare Prices.” You can sort by Relevance, Price, and other parameters by selecting one from the box in the upper right hand corner.

  6. Step 4 • Read the description and double check that this is the item that you were looking for originally.

  7. Step 5 • Now, look at the list of online stores where your product is available. Click “Total Price” to sort by the total cost (price + shipping).

  8. Step 6 • Locate the store closest to the top of the list (smallest total price) and click the link that says how many seller ratings that store has.

  9. Step 7 • Each store will have a variety of seller ratings. It is up to you to judge whether or not you would like to purchase from that store, but reading the reviews can help you make this decision. If you would not like to purchase from that store, click the back button in your browser and review the ratings from the next store.

  10. Step 8 • Once you have found a store that you would like to purchase your item from, click the link displaying the store’s name to take you to the listing for the item you wish to buy.

  11. Step 9 • Now simply add the item to your cart, and follow the checkout instructions. Each set of checkout instructions will be different for each website, but they are usually easy to figure out.

  12. Technical Support • If at any time when using Google Product Search you feel you need help, you can scroll to the very bottom of the screen and click on the “Help” link, to bring up the Product Search Help page.
