What is ERA? • National cross-sectoral consortium • Direct result of work done by library sectoral representatives • Supports collaborative negotiation and purchase of full text electronic resources • Open to all Australian libraries: public, school, TAFE, academic, special andNSLA • Working towards laying the foundation for a simplified national licensing arrangement

  3. ERA Aims to: Make it easier to subscribe and provide access to key electronic resources Enable all Australians, regardless of geographic location, to freely access quality full-text electronic resources Create collaborative partnerships between libraries Build partnerships with participating vendors Develop a framework that supports the purchase of national licences

  7. Key terms Available for both on-site and remote access Unlimited number of concurrent users Use in provision of Virtual Reference Services Allows supply of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery

  8. Bibliographic records and holdings • Working with LA members to add bibliographic records and holdings to the Australian National Bibliographic Database (ANBD) • This will make these resources discoverable via the Libraries Australia service

Priorities for ERA • Increase library participation • Promote product offerings and assist libraries promote products to end users • Work actively with other consortia • Review our operations and framework • Manage, negotiate and test product offerings • Continue to lobby for alternative funding sources
