  1. Zaragoza, 8-11-2005 Towards FP7: a strategy for DBD Andrea Giuliani

  2. What we cannot ask to be funded: - an existing DBD experiment - a new DBD experiment What we can ask to be funded: - every form of collaboration between different DBD groups - R&D tasks for next and next-to-next generation experiments - large enterprise of common interest (enrichment) - coordination of DBD searches at European level - common design of next-to-next generation experiments - European Observatory for DBD

  3. - every form of collaboration between different DBD groups exchange of students and young researchers probably we should exploit the existing possibility in FP6 (Marie Curie and so on) for FP7, possibility to form a TARI (Transnational Access) for which the infrastructures are Laboratories where DBD is searched for exchange of materials and data - isotopes - consumables for detectors (wires, connectors, glues, shielding elements) - real common data bases for radiopure materials (NW, Marie Curie, TARI)

  4. - R&D tasks for next and next-to-next generation experiments • devices for low background diagnostic at the level of 1 mBq/kg • design for DBD experiments based on scintillating bolometers • elements of tracko-calo detectors • technology of Ge detectors (segmentation, crystal purity...) • cosmogenic with numerical and experimental tools • support calculation of nuclear matrix elements • experiments to help in calculation of nuclear matrix elements - measurement of as more as possible DBD-like processes (2n also) - charge exchange reactions - muon capture reaction (JRA)

  5. to push as much as possible new enrichment techniques - ICR (Ion Cyclotron Resonance) - AVLIS (Atomic Vapor Laser Isotope Separation) (DS) coordination of DBD searches at European level common design of experiments in existing facilities (for example, repetition of experiments with existing isotopes using different techniques) (NW)

  6. formation of a WG to explore the feasibility of 1 meV experiment 1x1029 - 1x1030 y sensitivity is required 1x1030 - 1x1031 nuclides 107 moles are required 1000 tons scale - with 0 background! (NW) European Observatory of DBD - do we really want it?

  7. “if-Klapdor-is-right” option - push on SuperNEMO - push on enrichment of various isotopes - preparation of pure sources for NEMO of different isotopes - push on CUORE with different sections (simultaneous test of different bolometric compounds) “precision measurement” of DBD
