  2. Don’t choose paint first Sometimes it looks like you should choose your paint colour first because painted walls make up a lot of the decor space in your home. But it is far easier to choose one of the thousands of paint colours you can approach a painter to go with a paint colour.

  3. Painter’s choice on walls If you love colour, you may desire to use bold, beautiful pops of colour on your walls. But, for many people, it is best to keep the walls neutral and use those bold pops of colour to accents and accessories.

  4. Colour tones Painters will test out your colours with paint swatches and fabrics. If the painter works on paper, try to paint in small areas of your walls. Sketch out plans for your rooms and sketch in the colours. You can buy any colour paint in a sample size based on your painter opinion, particularly for this reason. While painting in your sample areas, look at other rooms and how they connect so that you can create a flow from room to room. An adjoining room may need a neutral colour, or conversely, you can work with contrasting tones as well as long as there is always a semblance of flow.

  5. Lighting Lighting is the main aspect of all decor and function within the home and should never be overlooked. Lighting will affect how your paint colours look in your home and may even make the same colour look dissimilar in one room than the next. Painters know that light reflects and deflects colour, changing it constantly throughout the day. A room’s original colours are seen in the daylight hours, and the shades will alter throughout the day and the seasons as the lighting transforms. Different lighting can change the impression of colour as well.
