PromotechEuropean Business & Innovation Centre • Created in 1980 out of the Polytechnic Institute • Was granted the DGXVI-BIC licence in 1985, and is a founder member of EBN • Has been established at the « technopole » in Nancy-Brabois since 1988 • ISO 9001 certification since 1999 Its activity is Europe-oriented and fits in with the process developed in Lorraine for the creation of new business activities, including : . Sensibilisation . Detection . Assistance in Business Planning : - for spin-off - for technology transfer . Follow-up : - incubator - internationalisation Means : . 12 staff . Annual budget of 1,5 million (Euros) . 3000m² of buildings Results : (as at 31 August 2001) assistance to 393 new activities including : 266 business creation 127 diversifications Thessaloniki - 17 mai 2002 -

Typology of projects treated by Europrojects • Spin offs : projects of new innovatives companies or start ups • Objectives : develop a commun start up between 2 spin-offs from 2 regions jointed by a cross Business Planning • Exemple : a start up in the field of Floriculture between Lorraine and Madeira • Technology transfer : new technologyprojects resulting from Univer-sities and research institutes • Objectives : develop a new technology with input of two technology transfer organisations • Exemple : rapid prototyping between Lorraine and Niederösterreich. • Replicable business : • how to duplicate a successfull activity from one region in an other region. • Objectives :duplicata the know-how of a success story in an other region • Exemple : PCM Assistance in Lorraine with Germany in the field of restoring data bases.
