  2. Members • Current Total: 56 • Class of 2010: 22 • Class of 2011: 20 • Class of 2012: 15 • Just completed fall selection for Class of 2012 • Class of 3selection scheduled for April

  3. 2008-2009 Activities

  4. Service Activities • Community Dinners at Athens Church of Christ • Free meals open to all community members • Volunteer to serve meals twice a month • West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps (WVMAW) Service Trip co-sponsor with FPSA • Christian ministry supported by Presbyterian Church, • 38 students participated in 2 day trip • Provided flood relief and home repair for people of Kopperston, WV

  5. Service Activities (cont.) • Walk the Walk:advertised for and had several SSP members volunteer/participate in this charity walk to raise awareness of mental illness and support the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Gathering Place in Athens. • Holiday Giving Tree • Collected gifts for Athens County Children Services to provide Christmas gifts for needy children

  6. Medicine Run • 5K race: 78 runners • Health Fair: Health screenings, manipulative treatment, bone marrow and blood drives, various health information booths • Raised $1000 to benefit OU-COM Free Clinic

  7. Talent Follies • Collaborate with SOMA • Fun-filled night of comedy skits and musical performances by student and faculty • Raised over $$, which was donated to Goodworks, an agency that provides shelter and support for homeless individuals in the area

  8. Distinguished Osteopathic Commitment (DOC) Awards • Organized with Student Government Association • Present awards for faculty, staff, and student • Recipients determined by student ballot • Osteopathic Mentor Award • Given to an Ohio Osteopathic Physician who, by his or her example and involvement, had a significant influence on an OU-COM student’s decision to pursue osteopathic medicine

  9. Honor Cords • Presented by second year class to Sigma Sigma Phi members of the graduating class.
