  1. Texas Hold’emThe Cadillac of Poker Presentation by: Derek O’Neill

  2. The World Series of Poker The World Series of Poker was first held in 1970 in Binion’s Horseshoe Casino Since 2007, the World Series consists of 57 events comprising variants of poker besides just Hold’em The “Main Event” costs $10,000 to enter. The 2010 schedule includes a $50,000 Player’s Championship involving 8 rotating games, though from 2006 to 2009, this event was a standard “H.O.R.S.E.” game

  3. 2010 World Series of Poker The 2010 WSOP had 7,319 entrants. The total prize pool was $68,798,600 with the winner receiving $8,944,138 for first place The 23 Year old Canadian, Jonathan Duhamel, became the first Canadian to win the main event

  4. The Poker Boom The poker boom was spurned by Chris Moneymaker’s WSOP main event win in 2003. Moneymaker originally qualified for his seat during an online satellite tournament. In 2003, the main event had 839 entrants and the top prize was $2,500,000.

  5. The Poker Boom (cont’d) ESPN expanded to full coverage of the event beginning in 2003. Coverage further expanded in 2004, with the number of entrants swelling to 2,576. In 2005, the event grew to 5,619 participants and to 8,773 in 2006. The 2006 prize was $12,000,000.

  7. Poker at Home Poker sets can be found everywhere. It’s pretty inexpensive to collect the supplies, but can be expensive if you’re a poor player. Because of the poker boom, there’s no shortage of interest, especially on college campuses.

  8. Poker in Delaware In the past year, table games were legalized in Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Harrington’s, Delaware Park and Dover Downs all have poker rooms replete with daily tournaments. Even though No Limit Texas Hold’em began as a Tournament game, Cash games have become increasingly popular. In these 24-hour poker rooms, poker never actually stops.

  9. Difficulties Encountered I had trouble formatting for 1024x768 and found myself making multiple adjustments to all of my web pages (of which there are more than a dozen). I struggled with finding a suitable background image. Introducing the subject was difficult, I felt most college-aged people probably know plenty about poker already.

  10. What I Learned Consistency is very important from page to page. Creating an effective and simple layout is more difficult than I imagined. Poker isn’t quite as simple to explain as I expected. I actually had some fun building the site, so I definitely plan to use this information in the future.
