  2. Announcements Athletics Today: The boys soccer game for today at Reagan has been canceled. It will be rescheduled for a later date. The home volleyball game against Reagan is still on and will begin at 4:45 pm as scheduled.

  3. Announcements Athletics Today: There is no practice for girl’s track or boy’s soccer. There is still practice for football.

  4. Announcements Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest Any student who would like to enter the Patriot’s essay contest, please see Ms. Mattia for more information and help.

  5. Announcements National Junior Honor Society If you were inducted into the NJHS at the end of the 2012-2013 school year, your first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 9 with Ms. Mattia.

  6. Announcements Battle of the Books Are you interested in reading some awesome books and competing against other schools over who knows the books best? If you are, join Battle of the Books. The sign-up sheet is located in the library. Sign up by Oct. 9th! If you have any questions, ask Ms. Burke or Mrs. Rupert

  7. Announcements Call for Candidates for the Student Counsel Association (SCA) SCA will be holding elections onOctober 17th during all lunches. Sixth and Seventh grade students may run for Delegate. Eighth grade students may run for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Delegate. Those eighth grade students running for President, Vice President, and Secretary need to submit a paragraph detailing why they would like to hold the office. Delegates only need to sign up at the front office. The deadline to sign-up is October 9th.

  8. Announcements Panthers on the Prowl-Boys & Girls Club Students should report to the library after school. Tuesdays: 6th and 7th grade (Kubler P-3, Kubler P-4, Polak P-2) Thursdays: 8th grade (Polak P-2, Polak P4&5)

  9. Announcements Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is offering an informational meeting at Benton Middle School on October 8th at 6:30 PM. Come and learn all about TJHSST, it’s program, classes offered and student life!

  10. Announcements Yearbook Club Yearbook Club will hold its first meeting on Monday, October 7 at 3:15 in room 824. Mrs. Drake is looking for at least 12 students who are creative and want to be a part of making the 2013-2014 Parkside Yearbook. Sky’s the limit so let your creativity soar.

  11. Announcements 2013 All-County Chorus Members The following students will be representing Parkside at the All-County Chorus event at Forest Park High School October 25 and 26.
