  7. During Class: Listen Critically • Listen for main concepts – not just facts and figures. • REALLY HEAR what is said • Mentally REPEAT what is said. • How important? • Ask questions • Sort, organize, categorize

  11. After Class • Respond • Write down main ideas in recall column • Recite • Use recall column to RECITE your ideas • Cover notes • Out loud • Review • Previous day’s notes just before the NEXT class session

  12. After Class • Compare notes with others • Recopy your notes • Repetition with the material will help it stick!

  13. Participating In Class • Sit up front • Keep eyes trained on Instructor • Focus on Lecture • Raise your hand when you don’t understand • Speak Up!

  14. Participating in Class • There is no such thing as a “Stupid” question • It is your right to ask for an explanation. • Don’t bluff your answers in class • “I’m not sure I have it… but…” • Bring in relevant materials from outside of class
