  1. What Are Samarium Cobalt Magnets and Their Uses

  2. Samarium Cobalt magnets are most commonly used in the applications that need high operating temperature like generators, sensors, marine applications, pump couplings and motors

  3. They are also used largely in automotive, aerospace, military and food as well as in manufacturing industries. SmCo or Samarium Cobalt is a type of rare earth magnet – strong permanent magnet made of two basic elements – called Samarium and Cobalt.

  4. Such types of magnets are made by using fully dense Sm – rare earth magnets. They are developed by a powered metallurgical process by producing Samarium Cobalt in micron size to compact in a rigid steel mold.

  5. This applied field imparts a preferred direction of magnetization or orientation to the Samarium Cobalt Magnet alloy.

  6. If compared to iron magnets, Samarium cobalt magnets are more powerful – that remain magnetic at high temperature and used in Microwave applications too. They enabled the miniaturization of electronic devices.

  7. As far as uses of Samarium are concerned, it is used for the doping of calcium chloride crystals for use in optical lasers. It is also used largely in infrared absorbing glass and as a neutron absorber in nuclear reactors.

  8. Samarium cobalt magnets are available in a variety of sizes and uses for different applications that you can get directly from the top manufacturers and suppliers.

  9. Armstrong Magnetics Inc is a reputed manufacturer and supplier of high-grade and advanced Samarium cobalt magnets – offering in a variety of sizes, types and models.
