  1. In the previous lesson you learned about how Samurai and Shoguns Take Over Japan. Now, you will all be learning about Samurai Live Honorably, Bushido, and Bushido in Modern Japan. So listen close and you will learn more.

  4. Common people had to treat the samurai w/ respect=anyone who disrespected a samurai was killed • Tradition placed restrictions on the samurai: For example: certain entertainment couldn’t be attended to (theater), or they couldn’t take part in trade or commerce.

  5. Samurai had to follow a strict code of rules (Bushido) Bushido=samurai code of rules bushido= to be brave & honorable fighters • Men & Woman of samurai families learned to fight (men only go to war & woman say home and protect the family)

  6. Samurai live simple & disciplined lives (disciplined= better warrior) • Many Samurai participate in peaceful rituals for there concentration (Zen Buddhism )

  7. More than any thing else, Bushido-samurai had to be loyal to his/her lord (masters) • do orders w/out hesitation, even if it caused suffering to his family. • Bushido influenced much of Japanese society
