  3. Background History • Le Musée Marmottan was originally a hunting lodge. It was purchased by Jules Marmottan in 1882 who then gave it to his son Paul. He later turned the building into a museum where they received donations of Monet’s paintings.

  6. Did You Know? • In 1987, the museum was robbed by masked gunmen and nine painting were stolen. These paintings and portraits were by Renoir and Morisot, as well as Monet. They were valued at $12 million.
