  1. Cerebral Palsy By: Jamie Caudle

  2. Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a group of non-progressive, non contagious motor condition that cause physical disability in human development. CP is caused by damage of the motor control centers of the developing brain and can occur during pregnancy, during childbirth or after birth up to the age of three. What is Cerebral Palsy?

  3. Spastic cerebral palsy • Athetoid cerebral palsy • Ataxic cerebral palsy The 3 types of CP

  4. Toe walking and Scissors walking are common among people with CP who are able to walk. CP symptomatology is very diverse. • Babies who are born with CP often have an irregular posture, their body may be very floppy or very stiff. • Seizures, language and speech, eating problems are also a common sign or CP. Signs & Symptoms

  5. Physiotherapy • Occupational • Speech Therapy • Conductive education • Massage Therapy Types of Interpersonal Therapy

  6. Physiotherapy is used to help cerebral palsy patients improve movement and motor skills. Physiotherapy impairs the brain's ability to properly control muscle movement, physiotherapy can do wonders in helping cerebral palsy patients gain mobility. Physiotherapy

  7. Occupational Therapy (OP) enables individuals with cerebral palsy to participate in activities of daily living that are meaningful to them. OP may address issues relating to sensory, cognitive, or motor impairments resulting from CP that affect the child's participation in self-care, productivity, or leisure. Occupational Therapy

  8. A Speech Therapy helps the patient correct speech disorders, restore speech, use communication aids, learn sign language, and improve listening skills. Speech therapy is performed by a speech pathologist, and involves regular meetings with the therapist in a one-on-one or group setting, as well as home exercises. Speech Therapy

  9. Conductive Education teach the body to move by way of appropriate teaching methods and repetition. Therapy is integrated with the tasks of daily living, allowing for maximum opportunities to practice the movement and strengthen the new neural pathways. Conductive Education

  10. Massage therapy is applied in a painless and comforting way to treat, heal and balance the mind, body and soul. Those pursuing massage do so as a complement to conventional medicine, as an alternative intervention, or for well-being. Massage can be helpful to those struggling with depression, attention-deficit, anxiety or stress. Massage Therapy

  11. Treatment for cerebral palsy is a lifelong multi-dimensional process focused on the maintenance of associated conditions. • Treatment is usually symptomatic and focus on helping the person to develop as many motor skills as possible and to learn how to compensate for the lack of them. • There are not any types of cure for CP, but you can get Physical Therapist or any other form of therapy.
