  2. Where Pythagoras lived and when he was born. • Pythagoras lived from 580- 500 B.C. • He was born on the Aegean island of Samos. • He lived in Greece. • He traveled in Egypt with his father.

  3. Interesting facts and events • Pythagoras formed a close – knit secret sceciety know as the Pythagorean Brother- hood.

  4. Discoveries in math • Pythagoras discovered the properties of the right triangle. Example: a2+ b2= c2 (c2 is always the longest side of the triangle.)

  5. More Discoveries in math Pythagoras saw elementary principles of geometry used in building pyramids and in surveying. He emphasized arithmetic and geometry.

  6. How Pythagoras died • Pythagoras died in a fire started by an angry mob. • Only a few members of the Pythagorean Brotherhood survived.
