  2. Childhood • Georges was born in 1859 in Paris, France • In his youth, an amateur artist (who was a relative) introduced Seurat to painting • In 1875 Seurat made friends with Edmond-Francois Aman-Jean at an art class

  3. Ecole des Beaux-Arts • In 1878, both Seurat and Aman-Jean were enrolled into the Ecole-des Beaux art school • They both joined an art class that was taught by Henri Lehmann • It wasn’t long though, before Seurat left the Ecole des Beaux-Arts

  4. Art in a Life • One of Seurat’s most famous artworks was A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte • In a lot of his paintings, Seurat used pointillism. And one example is A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte

  5. An End • Seurat unexpectedly died of a sickness in 1891. He was only thirty-two years old • And though he died so young, he influenced art and artists with the great style he created in just a short career “Pointillism is a way of life, not a painting system.” -Georges Seurat
