  4. Biology and Biology Honors The study of Life! Cells, DNA, Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, Microbiology, Plants, Invertebrates & Vertebrates and Human Body are all examples of topics studied.

  5. Biology Honors students will have more complex projects, tests and extra assignments. Throughout the year, students participate in several labs, activities and dissections to help them visualize the concepts being taught.

  10. AP CHEMISTRY Prerequisites This course is for the student who: • has had success in Chem I or Chem I H. • earned a C in Physics IH (recommended.) • attends class regularly. • is willing to work hard every day

AP CHEMISTRY • is very demanding and rigorous. • will build material covered in Chem I/Chem I Honors. • will prepare students to take Chemistry at the college level. • students take the AP exam. • students can receive up to 6 credit hours of college level Chemistry. This course is for the student who: • has had success in Chem I or Chem I H. • earned a C in Physics IH (recommended.) • attends class regularly. • is willing to work hard every day

AP CHEMISTRY • Chemistry II may be offered this summer at PPHS for those who want a leg up on AP Chemistry. • Labs that we will do include: • making aspirin (study of esters) • ice cream freezing point depression • rock candy supersaturated solutions • Iodine clock (rate of reaction) This course is for the student who: • has had success in Chem I or Chem I H. • earned a C in Physics IH (recommended.) • attends class regularly. • is willing to work hard every day

What is AP Environment Science? www.chemistryfraddosio.shutterfly.com • The following are topics that are covered in APES: • Earth Systems and Resources • Global Water Resources & Use • Land and Water Use • Agriculture, Forests, & Sustaining Biodiversity • Pollution • Air Pollution • Water Pollution • Energy Uses and Resources • Non-renewable energy (fossil fuels) • Nuclear Energy • Climate Change and Our Future • Global Warming *there is a course syllabus for you to view to see the breakdown of the specific topics • This course is designed to be the equivalent of a college introductory environmental science course, both in the wide range of topics studied, and in the depth, specificity and detail of course material

Why Take AP Environmental Science? • The goals of the AP Environmental Science course are: • Understanding the interrelationships in the natural world • Identify & analyze environmental problems or challenges • (both natural & human‐made) • Evaluate the relative risks associated with these environmental challenges • Examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or prevention • Have the opportunity to earn college credit after taking the AP Exam in May • Introduction to a college level course
