  1. Dynamics Aspect of Subbarrier Fusion Reaction in Light Heavy Ion SystemsMeirong Huang5/27/2012-1/6/2012

  2. outline • 1.introduction • 2. AMD simulation a)Initial nuclei b)AMD simulation results comparing with experimental data • 3.summary

  3. 1.introduction • 1)Sub-barrier fusion reaction mechanism is strongly influenced by the interacting nuclei’s structures, such as a cluster structure and a neutron halo. These effects become significant in light systems. • 2) Two disagreements of fusion cross section for halo nuclei in theoretical calculation: a) low average fusion barrier, enhance fusion cross section. b) low binding energy, easily to break up.

  4. 3) For reactions with light targets there exists a large discrepancy between fusion cross-sections measured either by the evaporation residue detection, using a gas dE + Si-E detector or the characteristic gamma detection, using HPGe detectors. However the discrepancy observed may originate from the high energy threshold of the dE-E measurements ( Mulherjee et al.).

  5. 2. AMD Simulation a) Initial nuclei Fig by Kanada-En’yo et al. Using AMD Volkov. PRC. 52. 628(1995)

  6. b) AMD simulation results comparing with experimental data • Fusion cross section can be described by: • Where pfus(E,b) is the fusion possibility and is given by the ratio of the fusion events to the total events.

  7. 7Li(t,α)+12C AMD residues channels multiplicity

  8. 1)α is in between 12C and triton t α 12C 19F

  9. t t t α 7Li 12C 16O

  10. 2) triton becomes in between 12C and α α α t 12C 15N

  11. Ecm = 5 MeV, 7Li+12C From characteristic γ In-complete fusion reaction

  12. 3.summary • 1.Subbarrier fusion of the 7Li+12C reaction is studied, using an antisymmetrized molecular dynamics model (AMD) with an after burner, GEMINI. • 2. In AMD, 7Li shows an alpha+triton structure at its ground state and it is significantly deformed. 12C is nearly spherical, though it has a 3-alpha cluster structure. • 3. Simulations are made near the Coulomb barrier energies, i.e., Ecm = 3-7 MeV. The cluster structure in 7Li takes a significant role on the fusion reaction, both in the complete and incomplete fusion channels.

  13. 4.The total fusion cross section above the Coulomb barrier is reasonably well reproduced, whereas the fusion cross sections below the barrier are underestimated by the simulation. • 5.The cross section for the different residue channels is also compared in detail. Some differences are observed, which may indicate that the cluster structure play a significant role in the entrance channel on subbarrier fusion reactions between light nuclei.
