  5. EU Key issues • TheManufacturer is responsible for the CE - marking • “CE approval” does not exists • TheManufacturer is responsible for all samples put on the market • All relevant directives applies

  6. “How to survive as a lab within EU” • As a Test Laboratory within EU you have to compete with other laboratories offering the same services • You will have an geographical advantage for local manufacturers • However as a manufacturer you can chose the lab offering the best service value

  7. “How to survive as a lab within EU” • What is good service value? It could be: • Competitive pricing, good quality, short delivery time (Time to market) • Broad range of services; EMC, LVD, MD ……….. (One stop shopping) • International certification services; CB Certification • Pre-compliance testing

Global Market • Client requirement: Test for the World Wide Market ! • The CB System is normally always a good start - IEC Standard + National Differencies from the CB Bulletin • North America can be difficult - Different standards for many products, UL, CSA, MET …..certification • China, CCC certification required for many products - Takes time, Factory inspection, HS codes • Co-operation with other labs can be a solution when to succeed with international certification

  9. Global Market • Depending on the product and market the requirements varies • Other requirements beyond Electrical Safety - EMC - Radio - Telecommunications interface- Ergonomic- In country testing -Inspectionof manufacturers site - Etc
