E.g. lead text, direct and indirect quotes etc, culminating in the children writing their own newspaper report about Henry ‘Box’ Brown. Use of text mapping to embed the structure and content of a newspaper report. Headlines – Looking at how journalists play with words in order to grab the reader, composing our own for ‘The Crate Story’. Grammar – Use of speech punctuation. Use of complex sentences in extended writing. Ing and Ed sentence openers. Speaking & Listening and Drama: Drama activities of events from class text – e.g. freeze framing, thought tracking and character in role. D.A.R.E role plays. Numeracy - Shape Properties of 2D and 3D shapes. Learning vocabulary eg: parallel, perpendicular, adjacent, vertices Recognising and knowing properties of 4 types of triangles and working out missing angles. Using a protractor.
