What Will We Learn and Do? • Math- Multiplication and Division, Geometry Concepts, Place Value, Factors and Multiples, Fractions and Decimals, Measuring, Graphs and Data, and more! • Reading and Writing- “JOURNEYS” *New Common Core Language • Science- Magnets and Electricity, Land and Water, Animal Studies, and Motion and Design • Social Studies- Tales of the Towpath (great trip in the spring) • Our fourth grade goals are to master our division facts (0-12) and to read 25 books or more. A book is about 150 pages. • In order to track our goal progress, we complete a timed facts assessment each month. A reading log is also due at the end of each month. • Fourth graders also need to sign their name in cursive.

Student Responsibilities in 4th Grade • Follow our class Behavior Plan and our Pfaff Pledge • Turn in excuse slips (within 3 days) and important papers, lunch money, etc. in the morning • Write down homework each morning (or afternoon) • Bring home materials needed to study (and get tests signed) • Check our class website for reminders • Be organized with time and materials • Read 20 mins. each night and log your completed books on your own (F is fiction, NF is nonfiction) • Understand the learning target and how to earn a 3 and a 4, and revise when needed • ASK FOR HELP!

  4. Team Approach: Home-School Connection is Key • Mrs. Gridley will email you almost weekly with important dates and information…but check our class site too! Homework always updated • Parent Portal- midway and end of each marking period • Principal’s Teas- see Pfaff Communicators • Assessment scores (BOYS, MOYS, EOYS) will be shared on report cards and at conferences • QCSD’s main website- lots of great info on SBGOur class site also states all of our learning targets and goals. • Do not hesitate to call or email the teacher!

  5. PSSA Dates • Reading and Math: March 17th- 28th • Science: Apr. 28th- May 2nd • Try to be in school on these days!

  6. How Can Parents Get Involved in Fourth Grade? • Sign up to be a Mystery Reader • Be a trip chaperone (with proper clearances) if name is picked- Lehigh Canal at Hugh Moore Parkin Easton • Play Study Island, RAZ-Kids, or EM Games with your child and have fun while learning together! Check out ThinkCentral too! • Visit our Imaginary Animal Museum in the spring • Check homework assignments and book bags nightly • Make time for sharing/reading a story, practicing math facts, or just asking, “What did you learn or do today?” • Return the Student Profile sheet ASAP
