Effective Classroom Management and Growth Strategies for New Teachers
This growth plan outlines my strengths in classroom management and student relationships, highlighting my ability to understand and adapt to individual learning needs. While I excel in connecting with students, I recognize the need to enhance group activities, classroom organization, and grading consistency. My goals include collaborating with support staff, improving teacher-parent communication, and increasing technology use in lessons. By engaging with fellow educators and following a structured plan, I aim to foster a positive, successful learning environment for all students.

My classroom management skills and my ability to read students are my greatest strengths
I feel I am able to really get to know each of my students as a person--as an individual. I try to get a feel for what strategies work with each one.
I like my ability to be flexible and teach in different situations.
Work with support staff (literacy coaches, administrators, etc.) to build relationships and get guidance.
Take the self-assessments. Rate my skills. Decide how I can improve
Improve teacher-parent communication, with a focus on positive notes home
I will get involved with a network of other professionals, or create a study group to work with The First-Year Teacher’s Survival Guide. The time I spend in active discussion will be rewarded when me and my students are successful.
I will contact the parents more often, not just for negative behavior, but positive behaviors
I will be self-disciplined, even though my first year will be overwhelmingly busy at times. Learning how to be a good teacher will keep me from being discouraged and overwhelmed.
I will implement more technology activities in my lesson planning
