  5. Certification Registry Overview • 324,270 records as of 12/31/2007 • Records date back to 1983 • Up 43,838 from 2006

  6. Composition of Registry • Fire Fighter – 36% • Hazmat – 23% • Fire Instructor – 10% • Fire Officer – 9% • Fire Inspector- 7% • All other levels – 15%

Electronic Submissions • Many entities now using this method @ $5.50 per applicant • Entities print Pro Board logo on their certificates • Important to comply with Excel format and instructions to facilitate merging with our database • Submit frequently to reduce questions from individuals who are unable to locate their records on the look up web site • Reduces chances of lost certificates • Data files are merged within hours of receipt

Applications • Make sure that you are using the new application that includes the credit card payment option • COA-2 Annual Reaccreditation Authorization Forms due • Adding or changing signatories • Samples of these signatures • Completeness and accuracy of application eliminates delays in getting certificates out

  9. Look Up Site • 28,000 total visitors to date • Updated daily • From www.theproboard.org: • Click on “Certification Search” • Enter last name and last 4 digits of Soc. Sec. No./ Social Insurance No./Employee No., etc. • Displays name, certification level, date certified, agency, NFPA standard edition date

NFPA 1000 - 2006 Edition Standard for Fire Service Professional Qualifications Accreditation and Certification Systems • This edition of the document includes information to both Accreditation and Certification entities to establish rules pertaining to alternative evaluation methodologies that if used by these entities.

NFPA 1001 – 2008 EditionStandard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications • Changes from previous edition include: • A skills maintenance requirement was added • Specific knot-tying requirements were deleted and replaced with those required by the AHJ • Inspection and public education requirements were moved from Chapter 5 to Chapter 6 • The JPR on flow testing of fire hydrants was deleted from Chapter 6

NFPA 1002Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications • Document currently in A2008 revision cycle • ROC available February 22, 2008 • New 2009 edition will be issued July 24, 2008 • Modified 5.1, 6.1 and 10.1 to allow for addition of meeting the requirements of NFPA 1081

NFPA 1005Standard for Professional Qualifications for Marine Firefighting for Land-Based Fire Fighters • 1.1 Scope • This standard identifies the minimum job performance requirements for land-based fire fighters responsible for firefighting operations aboard commercial/military vessels over 50 feet involved in fire, that call at North American ports or that are signatory to the International Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) agreement. • Next edition is 2012

NFPA 1006 – 2008 Edition Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications • Complete revision, including title change • Added provisions for an operations level for each of the disciplines • The levels are titled Level I and Level II to match all other Professional Qualifications Standards

NFPA 1006 – 2008 EditionStandard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications • Other changes include breaking the subject areas of “water and subterranean” into separate areas, i.e. Surface Water, Swift Water, Dive, Ice, Surf, and Mines, Tunnels and Caves • Change will allow certification and user entities to choose which specific areas to certify individuals • Document was issued January 25, 2008

  22. NFPA 1021 – 2003 EditionStandard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications • Document is in the A2008 revision cycle • Document has had some significant changes • ROC will be available February 22, 2008 • 2009 edition will be issued July 24, 2008

NFPA 1026Standard for Incident Management Personnel Professional Qualifications • New project identifies minimum qualifications for persons serving in the various positions in the IMS system • Written to the NIMS IM system at Type III, which has been determined to be the transition between strictly local incidents and those identified as Type I or II (major events on a national scale) • ROC will be available February 22, 2008 • 2009 edition will be issued July 24, 2008

NFPA 1037 – 2007 EditionStandard of Professional Qualifications for Fire Marshal • New document is a menu approach like 2002 and 1006 • Identifies core competencies and provides direction for allowing a jurisdiction to identify which areas the Fire Marshal may be responsible for, and to address those areas • In the case of a stand alone person who may be “the” Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator or Public Life Fire Safety Educator – that they meet the qualifications of those documents • F2011 revision cycle • Next edition is 2012

NFPA 1071 – 2006 EditionStandard for Emergency Vehicle Technician Professional Qualifications • In this edition, the committee added a new chapter for Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) III, which is the first level supervisor • The next revision cycle is A2010 • Document will enter cycle July 11, 2008 • Proposal closing date is December 1, 2008 • Next edition is 2011
