  2. Jean Nicolet • Jean Nicolet was born around 1598 in the Cherbourg region, in Normandy. • By turn interpreter, explorer, public servant and colonist, Nicolet is one of the most prestigious in the history of North America.

  3. In 1618, Jean Nicolet immigrated to Quebec as a clerk to train as a interpreter for the Compagnie Des Marchandswhich is a trading monopoly owned by members of the French aristocracy. • Jean Nicolet basically came in Quebec to run a store and trade with the indigenous people in the area.

  5. Nicolas Perrot • Nicolas Perrot was a great explorer. He was such a great explorer that the governors would always choose him first to go and explore some place. Nicolas Perrot was born in France in between 1941 and 1944. • We are not really sure when he was born. Nicolas was raised by the Jesuits .the red line is where Nicolas went.

  7. He was also he first French man to come in contact with the tribes west of the great lakes. What he would do with the tribes is that he would trade furs for guns. So that they could defend themselves equally from their enemies. They gave him the nickname the “iron trader”.

  8. Nicolas sent so much time with the tribes that he became good friends with the chiefs and the chiefs also liked him very much. So when he left and came back to Quebec he knew that he had a place to stay and had food.

  9. Étienne Brûlé • He was born in 1591 at champignysur Marne near Paris. People think that there is a really big chance that he made his trip with Samuel de Champlain in the year of 1608. He was the first European to see the four great lakes. But he maybe not the first person to see the great lakes but he was the first to give a physical description. So when Etienne Brule came to Quebec he wasn’t a lone he was with other explorers.

  10. Etienne Brule died in 1630 at the great lakes. In 1610 Champlain made a decision that they would and go further inland to have more territory. What Champlain did is that he told Etienne Brule that he would to find a route and lead. So what Etienne always wanted to go among the Algonquians to learn how they live and master their language. Also to discover any mines on the way to make money and get so people to come and work there. So that’s what they did. But on the way they got in to rapids and Champlain was the only Christ man to go through rapids
