  2. ELA January 27, 2014 Warm-up: Write 5-8 sentences on the following topic. Dismal: gloomy and depressing (adj) Describe three fun, interesting ways to brighten a dismal day. • ELA Materials: source book, paper, sentence structures work, pen • Agenda Note: Sentence Structures Stations • Homework: Read 30 mins. Nightly.

  3. Essential Questions & Standards • LA.8.CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.8.1—Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing and speaking. (Sentence Structures) • What are the different types of sentence structures? • How do you create simple, compound, and complex sentences? • How do you identify and differentiate the sentence structures?

  4. Opening What have you learned about the different sentence structures? Can you identify and write examples of 3 that we are focusing on? Are you able to assist others in your group?

Work Session Sentence Structures Stations—DUE TODAY • Sentence Structures Group Activity (You need to have at least 15 sentences on your paper—5 simple, 5 compound, & 5 complex). • Framed Paragraph Using Sentence Structures • Sentence Identification in Paragraphs READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR EACH STATION. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK. 

  6. Closing Identify each type of sentence as either simple, compound, or complex.
