  4. Design Technological design Mastered quality

  5. Techological design : • Brand new digital electronics • Integrated electronics, fewer components • Topology derivated from Galaxy 5000 • Fixed frequency 5 kHz, 4kHz • Transformerless topology • Output sizing : PF = 0,9 • Air cooling with heat pipes • All fan redundancy (at 25°c) and fault detection

  6. Technological design :topology

  7. Technological design:What is where ? IGBT Rectifier Charger IGBT Inverter Control command boards DC Caps Power supplies boards Input and output static switches Input filters

  8. footprint Costs Efficiency Techological design:Why a transformerless topology ? • Best solution to maximise the triptic : • Need of 3% thdi  Dc Bus at 800 v  no need of output transformer. • Save cost • Save footprint • Experience with Comet, Galaxy 3000, Galaxy 5000 • Up to date topology Is it the only topology without transformer ?

  9. 450 v 230 v 400 v Techological design:Transformer less issue Galaxy 7000 • The truth about G6K output transformer G6K No use : DC voltage is 800 v Voltage elevator Choke for smoothing Sinus Still exists Higher IGBT ratings (cheaper and cheaper) Supressing H3 and H5 (triangle/zigzag) Galvanic isolation between M1 input and output Have to add one transformer at the output

  10. Techological design:Transformer less issue : at the input level Galaxy 5000 PW Phenomenoms Transformer will lower the impact of over voltage. In input EMC filter:capacitor Phase  earth +common mode choke lower the impact of over voltage Low frequency disturbances : Lightning :over voltage High frequency disturbances : « arcing » The inverter transformer will play no role and will transmit all disturbances EMC filter includes device for better protection

  11. Techological design:Transformer less issue : at the UPS level Galaxy 5000 Phenomenoms PW DC voltage at the output of the UPS caused by a problem of electronic regulation Electronic regulates to have no DC voltage. If electronic trouble, inverter transformer is saturated, the inverter is overloaded and transfer to by-pass Electronic regulates to have no DC voltage. If electronic trouble, control loop orders a transfer to by-pass DC current at the output of the UPS (power supply with only one diode) Transformer can suppy up till 5 % G5K can supply up till 10% of DC Current UPS inverter fault between phase or on DC Bus Only electronic regulation can guaranty the non transmission to the load Only electronic regulation can guaranty the non transmission to the load

  12. Techological design:Transformer less issue : at the output level Galaxy 5000 Phenomenoms and beliefs PW Short circuit capacities Short circuit is divided upon 2 legs at the primary of the transformer IGBT are bigger and able to provide excellent results Check table Transfo with Delta Y widings suppresses these harmonics : smaller inverter IGBT ratings Harmonics coming from the load, mainly H3 Higher IGBT ratings Transformer can be used to adapt the output voltage Electronics can set from -3 to +3% the output voltage Electronics can sets up precisely
