  2. What is it? • Excessive hair growth in certain areas of a woman's face and body. • Such as the mustache and beard areas. • It creates a "male pattern" of hair.

What causes it? • Hirsutism in women means that their hair follicles are being over-stimulated by testosterone or other androgen hormones. • Androgen hormones are sex hormones present in men. • Testosterone increases the size and intensifies the growth and pigmentation of hair. • It usually starts during puberty but can start before or after it.

What’s the symptoms? • Mild Form- • A significant growth of hair that is mature. • On the upper lip • Chin • Sideburn area • Lower abdomen. • More Advanced Form- • Mature hair growth on the…. • Upper Back • Shoulders • Sternum • Upper abdomen • Other Symptoms- • Oily Skin • Acne • Alopeia (hair loss) • Receding hair line • Voice changes ( deeper voice)

What is some Treatments? • You can decrease the levels of androgens with cosmetic treatments and medical treatments. • Laser hair removal techniques which use light to generate heat inside the hair follicles destroys the ability of hair to grow from the follicle. • Plucking, shaving, waxing, and chemical hair softeners can be used to treat mild hirsutism, but must be repeated. • Several medicines can alter the impact of androgen hormones on the body and skin. • Like birth Control which counterbalances the masculine effect
