  4. “Streaking” • Streak is color of mineral in powdered form. • Geologists use streak plates.

  5. Identify Mineral - Streak Test • 4 unknown mineral samples per table group. • Take turn testing the minerals. • Place mineral back in correct cup. • Record observations on worksheet (Streak Test Minerals).

  6. “Luster” • Lusteris the way light reflects off a mineral’s surface. • Metallicmeans it looks shiny like metal. • Nonmetallic describes all of the other lusters.
