It would be -good if you can appreciate that extreme environments are beautiful but dangerous. even better if you could understand that they way we see extreme environments has changed. amazing if you could understand why different people view environments in different ways. Settler – write the date, copy the title and the underlined parts of the outcomes. Underline your date and title neatly. Thank you.

  3. How does this image make you feel? Can you name any mountains? What do you know about them? Would you go up there? Why/why not? Task – List 5 adjectives to describe this image.

Discuss with partners – a What words does the poet use to describe the mountain? b Are there any words that you don’t understand? Use a dictionary to find out the meanings. C How do you think he feels about the mountain?

  5. Choose your task. 3Read the extract from Touching the Void. Try to picture the action in your mind. It would be amazing if you could – Imagine what might happen next. Continue the story in your own words. It would be good if you could put the following statements into the correct order. a. Joe was hanging on the ice axe to out the hammer into the ice. b. Joe lowered himself over the edge of the cliff. c. Everything was still. The pain was flooding down Joe’s leg. d.The ice gave way and everything started to fall. His knee shattered. e. Joe fell down the mountain, head first, on his back and jerked to a sudden stop. Top Tip – Think about SPaG.
