EVANGELISM. To reach the world with the true gospel of Jesus Christ and what it means to be born again of the water and of the spirit. To be ready when Jesus returns for his Bride: which is his Born-Again Church who are saved because they obeyed Jesus’ disciples’ gospel that Jesus told them to preach to all people. To know the importance of Repentance, Baptism in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and to be filled with the Holy Ghost ... with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives them the utterance.

    1. WHO IS THE BRIDE OF CHRIST? (ALSO INCLUDED: “WHAT YOU MUST DO TO BE SAVED”) Prepared by apostolictruth7, with the help of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Background music by Victor Murray

    2. THE BRIDE OF CHRIST IS HIS BORN-AGAIN CHURCH, WHICH IS MADE UP OF MANY MEMBERS, YET IT IS ONE BODY, AND CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THE BODY.

    3. JESUSLOVED HIS CHURCH ANDGAVE HIMSELF FOR IT Ephesians 5:22-27  Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH: AND HE IS THE SAVIOUR OF THE BODY. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, Even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.  Hebrews 9:14  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:24For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Hebrews 9:26  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Hebrews 9:28So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

    4. THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST SHED FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS Matthew 26:28  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.  Hebrews 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.  Acts 2:37-38  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  When Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost, he commanded his hearers to repent "for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38). Without repentance, there is no remission of sins; we are still under His wrath. Peter further said, "Acts 3:19  Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:20  And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Revelation 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

    5. The Bible tells us that one day there will be the wedding supper of the Lamb to celebrate the “wedding” of Jesus Christ to His Bride (His born again Church). The Church is made up of all those who have believed in Jesus, throughout all time. WEDDING SUPPER OF THE LAMB (I know, this image cannot even begin to compare to the wonderful sight we will see at Jesus wedding supper with his Bride) THE BRIDE IS ALSO A PHYSICAL CITY “To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable To God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 1 Peter 2:4-6 John Gill Bible Commentary Confounded: He that believeth on him shall not be confounded: or "ashamed"; of the foundation and cornerstone Christ, nor of his faith in him; and he shall not be confounded by men or devils, neither in this world, nor in that to come; he shall have confidence before Christ, and not be ashamed at his coming; he shall be safe now, being laid on this stone; nor shall he be removed from it, or intimidated by any enemy, so as to flee from it; THE BRIDE IS ALSO A PHYSICAL CITY (See excerpt of an interesting article by Geoffrey Grider … on next slide: “HOW THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH CAN BE BOTH THE BRIDE AND BODY OF JESUS CHRIST AT THE SAME TIME”

    6. Excerpt of article by Geoffrey Grider To read the whole article, please copy and paste the link below in your browser’s address bar: http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/new-testament-church-can-be-bride-body-jesus-christ-jerusalem “HOW THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH CAN BE BOTH THE BRIDE AND BODY OF JESUS CHRIST AT THE SAME TIME” Eve was formed from one of Adam’s ribs, from Adam’s own body. This means that Adam’s bride was also his body at the very same time. You might want to pause here for a moment and reflect on that, and allow that thought to wash over you as it did me the very time the Holy Spirit revealed that to me. Going 6,000 years back into the past, in the very beginning of Genesis, God has placed a wonderful and amazing type of the New Testament Church in the creation of Adam and Eve. For the “first Adam”, God fashioned him a bride out of his own body. For the “last Adam” which 1 Corinthians tells us is Jesus Christ, God has done exactly the same thing. He has given Him a body from which He also has created a Bride. “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.” If you are a born again, saved sinner in the Church Age, you are part of the body of Jesus Christ. You have been grafted in to His Body so that He now dwells inside of you.

    7. THE CHURCH IS MADE UP OF ALL THOSE WHO HAVE BELIEVED IN JESUS ANDOBEYEDHIS GOSPEL…AS TAUGHT BY HIS DISCIPLES! John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; • Galatians 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

    8. Revelation 19:6-9  And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

    9. JESUS’ DISCIPLES GIVE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CHURCH REGARDING THE OPERATION OF IT

    10. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-11 • I DECLARE UNTO YOU THE GOSPEL WHICH I PREACHED UNTO YOU WHICH ALSO YE HAVE RECEIVED, AND WHEREIN YE STAND;  • BY WHICH ALSO YE ARE SAVED, • IF YE KEEP IN MEMORY WHAT • I PREACHED UNTO YOU, • UNLESS YE HAVE BELIEVED IN VAIN.

    11. I DECLARE UNTO YOU THE GOSPEL WHICH I PREACHED UNTO YOU WHICH ALSO YE HAVE RECEIVED, AND WHEREIN YE STAND; BY WHICH ALSO YE ARE SAVED, IF YE KEEP IN MEMORY WHAT I PREACHED UNTO YOU,UNLESS YE HAVE BELIEVED IN VAIN. 1 Corinthians 15:1-11Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:  And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.  Ephesians 1:7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;  Ephesians 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,  11

    12. JOHN GILL COMMENTARY …. 1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel,.... The apostle here passes on, and proceeds to a new subject, the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead, which some in this church denied; and which he undertakes to prove, establish, and defend; and in order to lead on to it, observes, that what he was about to declare, make known, or put them in mind of, was no other than the Gospel he had formerly preached to them, they had received, professed to stand in, and were saved by, unless their faith was in vain. The doctrine of the resurrection of the dead he calls "the Gospel", that being a most important doctrine, and a fundamental article of it. The resurrection of Christ from the dead made a considerable part in the ministry of the apostles, to the grief of the Sadducees among the Jews, to the scorn of the Gentile philosophers, and to the faith, hope, and comfort of Christians: this is the sum and substance of the word of faith, or doctrine of the Gospel, upon which the whole depends; see Rom_10:8 and the resurrection of the saints is connected with it, and assured by it. This indeed is the Gospel, good news, glad tidings that the bodies of the saints shall be raised again, and made like to the glorious body of Christ; and being reunited to their souls, shall live with him to all eternity; and were this out of the Gospel, it would not be Gospel, or good news; it would be an idle story, faith would be a vain thing, and hoping and believing Christians of all the most miserable. Moreover, says the apostle, the Gospel I declare, is which I preached unto you; meaning, when he first came among them, and which had been so very useful to them for conversion and consolation; and therefore if he himself, or an angel from heaven, was to preach any other doctrine, it was to be rejected; and hence, much less should the false teachers be regarded: yea, adds he, it is the doctrine which also you have received; when first enlightened and converted, with all gladness and joyfulness, with all readiness and cheerfulness, in the love of it, and by a full assent to it; and therefore having had such an experience of it, should not now depart from it: nay, he further says, and wherein ye stand; as he hoped they did, at least it was what they ought to have done, and doubtless was the case of the majority of them, and whose example it became the rest to follow.

    13. JOHN GILL COMMENTARY …. 1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also ye are saved,.... It was the means of their salvation, and had been made the power of God unto salvation to them. Salvation is inseparably connected with true faith in Christ as a Saviour, and with a hearty belief of his resurrection from the dead, which is the earnest and pledge of the resurrection of the saints; and because of the certainty of it in the promise of God, through the obedience and death of Christ, and in the faith and hope of believers, which are sure and certain things, they are said to be saved already. To which the apostle puts in the following provisos and exceptions; the one is, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you; or rather, "if ye hold fast, or retain"; that is, by faith, the doctrine preached to you, and received by you, particularly the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead; for the salvation that is connected with it does not depend upon the strength of the memory, but upon the truth and steadfastness of faith: it is the man that perseveres in the faith and doctrine of Christ that shall be saved; and everyone that has truly believed in Christ, and cordially embraced his Gospel, shall hold on, and out to the end; though the faith of nominal believers may be overthrown by such men, as Hymenaeus and Philetus, who asserted, that the resurrection was past already; but so shall not the faith of real believers, because the foundation on which they are built stands sure, and the Lord has perfect knowledge of them, and will keep and save them. The other exception is, unless ye have believed in vain: not that true faith can be in vain; for that is the faith of God's elect, the gift of his grace, the operation of his Spirit; Christ is the author and finisher of it, and will never suffer it to fail; it will certainly issue in everlasting salvation: but then as the word may be heard in vain, as it is by such who are compared to the wayside, and to the thorny and rocky ground; and as the Gospel of the grace of God may be received in vain; so a mere historical faith may be in vain; this a man may have, and not the grace of God, and so be nothing; with this he may believe for a while, and then drop it: and since each of these might possibly be the case of some in this church, the apostle puts in these exceptions, in order to awaken the attention of them all to this important doctrine he was reminding them of.

    14. Ephesians 4:1-8  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,  With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,  One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

    15. Ephesians 4:11-16 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

    16. Ephesians 4:17-32  This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,  Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ;  If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

    17. FOR WE ARE MEMBERS OF HIS BODY, OF HIS FLESH, AND OF HIS BONES. Ephesians 5:30-32 Ephesians 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:  Ephesians 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.  Ephesians 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  Ephesians 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

    18. SPIRITUAL GIFTS 1 Corinthians 12:1  Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.  1 Corinthians 12:2  Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.  1 Corinthians 12:3  Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.  1 Corinthians 12:4  Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.  1 Corinthians 12:5  And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.  1 Corinthians 12:6  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.  1 Corinthians 12:7  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.  1 Corinthians 12:8  For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;  1 Corinthians 12:9  To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;  1 Corinthians 12:10  To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:  1 Corinthians 12:11  But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

    19. ONE BODY WITH MANY MEMBERS 1 Corinthians 12:12  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.  1 Corinthians 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.  1 Corinthians 12:14  For the body is not one member, but many.  1 Corinthians 12:15  If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?  1 Corinthians 12:16  And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?  1 Corinthians 12:17  If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?  1 Corinthians 12:18  But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.  1 Corinthians 12:19  And if they were all one member, where were the body?  1 Corinthians 12:20  But now are they many members, yet but one body.  1 Corinthians 12:21  And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.  1 Corinthians 12:22  Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

    20. 1 Corinthians 12:23  And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.  1 Corinthians 12:24  For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:  1 Corinthians 12:25  That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.  1 Corinthians 12:26  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.  1 Corinthians 12:27  Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.  1 Corinthians 12:28  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.  1 Corinthians 12:29  Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?  1 Corinthians 12:30  Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?  1 Corinthians 12:31  But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

    21. 1 Corinthians 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. Peter proclaimed in Acts 2:39 that the gift of tongues is for everyone who is called by God: "The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:8-9 that when that which is perfect comes, tongues will cease. That is a reference to the Second Coming of Christ. The Bible teaches that no one is perfect except Jesus. When Christ returns, we will not need to speak in tongues to communicate with God because we will be with Him. But until then, the gift of tongues is available to any believer who desires it.

    22. THE FOLLOWING SLIDES SHOULD HELP YOU UNDERSTANDHOW JESUS PREPARED HIS DISCIPLES FOR SPREADING HIS GOSPEL. SLIDES #57 to #76, IN THIS PRESENTATION, WILL HELP EXPLAIN TO YOU HOW TO PREPARE YOURSELF TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT, WITH THE EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES AS THE SPIRIT GIVES THE UTTERANCE.

    23. BEFORE THE DISCIPLES BEGAN PREACHING THE PLAN OF SALVATION TO PEOPLE, JESUS OPENED THEIR UNDERSTANDING TO UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES. Luke 24:45-49 then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures … John 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

    24. Luke 24:45-49  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.  THE COMING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Acts 2:1-5  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.  Act 2:38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Act 2:39  For the promiseis unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

    25. REPENTANCE AND REMISSION OF SINS SHOULD BE PREACHED IN HIS NAME, BEGINNING AT JERUSALEM LUKE 24:47-49 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Fatherupon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. (The promise of the Father and the baptism of the Holy Spirit are one and the same thing).

    26. UNTIL THE DAY IN WHICH HE WAS TAKEN UP, AFTER THAT HE THROUGH THE HOLY GHOST HAD GIVEN COMMANDMENTS UNTO THE APOSTLES WHOM HE HAD CHOSEN. Luke 24:45-49  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations,beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.  Acts 1:2-5 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father,which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 1:11-12  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.  Then returned they unto Jerusalemfrom the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. Please notice that Jesus said to teach repentance and remission of sins in his name …. beginning at Jerusalem. As you read Acts 2:38, You will realize that repentance and remission of sins began on the day of Pentecost, at Jerusalem.

    27. Acts 2:3-5  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at JerusalemJews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.  Acts 2:14  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:  Acts 2:37-39  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. REMINDER: Please notice that Jesus said to teach repentance and remission of sins in his name …. Beginning at Jerusalem. As you read Acts 2:38, you will realize that repentance and remission of sins began at Jerusalem.

    28. AS THOU HAST GIVEN HIM POWER OVER ALL FLESH, THAT HE SHOULD GIVE ETERNAL LIFE TO AS MANY AS THOU HAST GIVEN HIM. AND THIS IS LIFE ETERNAL, THAT THEY MIGHT KNOW THEE THE ONLY TRUE GOD, AND JESUS CHRIST, WHOM THOU HAST SENT….. I HAVE MANIFESTED THY NAME UNTO THE MEN WHICH THOU GAVEST ME OUT OF THE WORLD: John 17:1-12These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy nameunto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.  I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own namethose whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

    29. NEITHER PRAY I FOR THESE ALONE, BUT FOR THEM ALSO WHICH SHALL BELIEVE ON ME THROUGH THEIR WORD John 17:13-26  And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. NEITHER PRAY I FOR THESE ALONE, BUT FOR THEM ALSO WHICH SHALL BELIEVE ON ME THROUGH THEIR WORD; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.  Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.  • Galatians 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

    30. THE GREAT COMMISSION … Matthew 28:18-19, Mark 16:14-20, Luke 24:47 Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teachall nations, baptizing them in the nameof the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Mark 16:14-20  Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.  30

    31. Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the nameof the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Matthew 28:19-20 is a command to obey, not repeat. (For example: If I say to you, “Please go close the door.” You would not go to the door and repeat what I said, you would close the door, right?) Likewise, when the disciples baptized people, they were obeying Jesus’ command when they baptized everyone in the name of Jesus. John 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  As you read the book of Acts, you will notice what name the disciples always and only used when they baptized people. The same nameevery time, without exceptionis JESUS! Something to think about: You must confess that even if you are not sure what the nameof the Father and what the nameof the Holy Ghost is, you surely knowthat the name of the Son is Jesus. The disciples knew what name to use because Jesus manifested His Father’s name to them. (read slide #28)

    32. ACTS 2:38 IS THE KEYS GIVEN TO PETER BY JESUS AND PETER USED THE KEYS FOR THE FIRST TIME, BEGINNING IN JERUSALEM, ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST. Matthew 16:18-19 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. THE KEYS, USED BY PETER • Acts 2:37-39 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, • Men and brethren, what shall we do? • THEN PETER SAID UNTO THEM, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promiseis unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  32

    33. REMINDER: As you read the book of Acts, you will find that the only name • the disciples used when they baptized people was in the name JESUS. • The same name every time, without exception. Never, not one time did the disciples repeat Jesus’ instructions to baptize people in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Why? They knew to baptize people in the name of Jesus • for the remission of sins. Remember, Jesus opened their understanding to understand the scriptures. He said he is praying for those, that’s us, who believe on him by what the disciples preach (read John 17:20, again). Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  John 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  Galatians 1:6-9  I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.  Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

    34. Mark 16:16-17  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my nameshall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  John 16:13-15  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.  Acts 2:3-4  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.  Acts 2:37-39  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

    35. John 3:3-8  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.  Mark 16:16-17  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my nameshall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  Acts 2:38-39  Then Peter said unto them,Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christfor the remission of sins, andye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

    36. THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST, andBEGAN TO SPEAK IN OTHER TONGUES!! Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Acts 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Acts 2:4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, andbegan to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    37. Acts 8:15-17 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them,and they received the Holy Ghost.

    38. Acts 8:18-20 And when Simon saw thatthrough laying on of the disciples' hands the Holy Ghost was given,he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receivethe Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. What do you think Simon sawandheard?Common sense will help you realize that Simon would not have offered to buy something unseen. It is obvious that he saw people speaking in tongues, glorifying God, for that is what happened every time someone was filled with the Holy Ghost … and it is still happening today. Acts 2:33  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now seeandhear.

    39. ACTS 10:44-48 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized,which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. (Read Acts 2:1-4) (Scripture reference to: “which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?”)Acts 2:1-4 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. What is the nameof the Lord?

    40. There are some people who don’t believe that speaking in tongues is a signthat a person has been filled with God’s Spirit. They will tell you that they are filled with God’s Spirit by faith, alone.They are wrong. Their kind of faith is dead faith! Faith is an action word. They have absolutely nothing to back up what they say they believe.Jesus gave specific information of what happens when a person is filled with God’s Spirit. Everyone that is born of the Spirit will have the same noticeable evidence… they speak in tongues as the Spirit gives them the utterance. (Read Mark 16:15-17) JESUS: Mark 16:15-17  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my nameshall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

    41. WHAT SIGNS DID JESUS SAY WILL FOLLOW THEM THAT BELIEVE? Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarderof them that diligently seek him.

    42. 1 CORINTHIANS 14:22 WHEREFORE TONGUES ARE FOR A SIGN, NOT TO THEM THAT BELIEVE,BUT TO THEM THAT BELIEVE NOT. 1 Corinthians 14:21-25 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.  1 Corinthians 14:39-40  Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order.  Mark 16:17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my nameshall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

    43. NO ACTION TO YOUR FAITH IS DEAD FAITH! James 2:17-26 “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” There is more to having faith then simply saying you have faith. Faith is an action word. If you truly have faith and believe in Jesus you will obey His gospel that His disciples taught.

    44. SOME FOOLISHLY SAY IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT OR WHO YOU BELIEVE IN BECAUSE, THEY SAY, ALL RELIGIONS LEAD TO GOD. Is that true? No! It is not true! All religions do not lead to God! There is more to believing then simply saying you believe. If you truly believe the gospel, you will obey the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by his disciples. John 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

    45. NOT EVERY ONE THAT SAITH UNTO ME, LORD, LORD, SHALL ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN; BUT HE THAT DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN. Luke 6:46-49  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?  Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:  He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.  “AND THEN WILL I PROFESS UNTO THEM, I NEVER KNEW YOU” Matthew 7:21-29  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

    46. Are you really a child of God if you do not have His Spirit? Let’s read Romans 8:9-11.

    47. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Romans 8:9-11 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit,ifso be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now ifany man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And ifChrist be in you,the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But ifthe Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

    48. LET’S LOOK AT JOHN 3:3-8 John 3:3-8 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the soundthereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” Just as you know the wind is present, because you can hearit, likewise, you know God has filled someone with the Holy Ghost, for you hearthat person speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.

    49. LET’S LOOK AT ACTS 10:44-48 Acts 10:44-48 “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.” (read Acts 2:4) Acts 2:4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, andbegan to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Notice that? After the disciples heard them speak in tongues and magnify God, Peter commanded the people to be baptized in the name of the Lord. We all must follow the disciples example by getting baptized in the name of Jesusfor the remission of our sins, and allowing God to fill us with His Spirit. (Read Acts 2:38, again, where it says repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ)

    50. YE ARE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE Ephesians 1:13 -14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. God’s born again children are sealedwith the Holy Spirit of promise. The sealrepresents ownership. Acts 2:38-39  Then Peter said unto them,Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christfor the remission of sins, andye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
