  3. Skin Burn • Working in the kitchen is extremely prone to burns while cooking. • There are specific industries where the danger of burns is more than others. e.g. moulding industry, working metal refining.

  4. Burns are very painful as they damage the body’s tissues. • They may be caused by excessive electricity, heat, fire, certain harmful chemicals, sunlight, and radiations. • Burns are classified into 3 types depending upon the degree of severity.

  5. Types of Burns • 1. First degree burns damage only the outer layer of the skin. • 2. Second-degree burns affect the outer layer as well as the layer beneath the skin. • 3. Third degree burns damage the deepest layer of the affected skin.

  6. 1. Wash with Cucumber Water • Put the affected area under running tap water for a few minutes and wash with cucumber water or rose water. • Both of the have astringent properties and help in preventing infection.

  7. 2. Apply Cucumber and Carrot or Aloe Vera Paste • Grind cucumber and carrot in a blender or crush them finely in a mortar and pestle. • Strain the juice out and apply the paste to the affected area. • You can also crush Aloe Vera leaves and apply the pulp.

  8. 3. Jatyadi Oil • Jatyadi Oil is a classical Ayurvedic formulation which heals burns and provides pain relief. • Use a cotton ball and apply directly on the area.

  9. 4. Ghee • Ghee gives the cooling effect on the skin. • If possible, take barks of Pipal and Bargad and mash it into a pulp. • Add that to cow ghee and apply on the affected area. • Applying plain ghee on burn area is also beneficial.

  10. 5. Honey and Coconut Oil • Mix equal amounts of honey with the plain coconut oil. • Use this mixture in the burn area for relief. • Instead of coconut oil, you can use sesame oil as well.
