  2. 2008-2009 • Cut $10.5 million • Hiring freeze since January 2008 • Eliminated 2009 winter intersession • Reduced spring 2009 by 330 course offerings • Eliminated most PT hourly positions • Facility-use fees • Closed Marketplace Education Center • Closed Anaheim Hills Education Center

  3. 2009-2010 • Cut $10 million in June; identifying another $15 million in reductions • Reduced summer session by 25% • 4/10 work week for utility savings • Reduction in force impacting 140 positions • Continued hiring freeze • Eliminated PT short-term positions • Negotiate savings in health/welfare benefits • Parking fee for all employees • Increased health and parking fees for students • Facility-use fees • Eliminated more than 400 course offerings

  4. Impact at SCC • Suspended choir, forensics, study abroad, and Model U.N. • Limit high school outreach to OUSD only • No financial aid workshops at local high schools • Reduced operating hours for the library by 20 hours • Reduced hours of operation and support in Testing and Tutoring Centers

Impact at SAC • Cut half the course offerings at Continuing Education (CEC) for summer session and 25% of from fall 2009 • Eliminated the Career Center at CEC • Reduced services and support • Suspended Santa Ana Civic Leadership Initiative, the Research Scholars Program, and financial aid workshops at local high schools & student life activities

  6. OUTLOOK FOR 2010-2011 • Anticipate mid-year cut in January 2010 • Furlough, pay cuts, 4/10, reduction to 10-month assignments • Reduced class offerings for summer 2010 • Reduced class offerings for fall 2010 • Reduction in community investment
