Aquarelle: The Project • Objectives: • Ressource Discovery on cultural heritage • Navigation & Querying on heterogeneous distributed databases • Legacy cultural information sources • Creation of derived multimedia products • Narratives on specific themes gathering links to relevant pieces of original information • Consortium: • 26 Partners: cultural institutions, publishers, IT companies, research institutions • Duration: 3 years, 1996-1998 • Final Prototype (Release 2.0) available online in four countries: UK, FR, IT, GR

Aquarelle: Scenario of Use • Retrieval: Query & Navigate • Discover resources of interest • Formulate queries using a flat vocabulary of Z39.50 access points and multilingual terminological support • Browse in the results • Maintain a workspace of links • Authoring: Assemble & Correlate & Annotate • Use a new, old or prototype folder • Index by local/ controlled term assignment • Publish, Republish or Unpublish folders • Continue Retrieval/Authoring Cycles
