  1. 5 Ways to Prep Your Dog for Boarding Vacation is a time to unwind and escape the business of everyday life, and unfortunately, sometimes we can’t bring our dogs along with us. In those instances, when we are unable to bring our pups on vacation, why not allow them to stay somewhere just as enjoyable? Boarding your pup when you’re out of town is a great way to ensure your dog comprehensively cared for you while you’re away. To keep both vacations as stress-free as possible, here are 5 things that you can do to prepare your dog for boarding. Boarding Trials If your pup is prone to separation anxiety, it is a great idea to plan a trail boarding stay. The trial will last 24 hours and eases your dog into a new environment and a new daily routine, doing the same for those of us who are on the anxious end. You may find that your dog and yourself adjust much better when it comes time for a longer stay. Adjust Your Pup’s Sleeping Habits If your pup sleeps in your bed each night, you can assume they’ll be upset when sleeping alone at a facility. Try your best to get them adjusted to sleeping by themselves. If they cry when sleeping alone, you can expect them to cry when boarded. Keep Your Pup Comfy

  2. Regardless of the creature comforts the boarding facility you have chosen provides, such as TVs or great play facilities, there is nothing like the comfort of home. Bring a familiar blanket or cushion for your pup to sleep on. It can assist them in feeling more secure. Some facilities will allow you to bring your dog’s bed, so make sure to ask in advance. Drop Off’s In The Morning If your schedule allows for it, drop your pup off at the boarding facility earlier in the morning. This gives your dog the entire day to not only adjust to their new surroundings but also play and tire themselves out before it is time to wind down and sleep for the night. Visit Your Pup’s Vet It is vital and considerate to other’s dogs that you de-flea and worm your dog. It would be best to keep vaccinations up to date and even update them at least two weeks before boarding. Both of these precautions are commonly required before boarding. Follow these tips, and you will help your dog have a more enjoyable stay, and you can enjoy your vacation with peace of mind, just how it was meant to be.
