  2. Overall objective: To ensure that women and men everywhere can obtain and use the quality reproductive health commodities of their choice whenever they need them. Purpose: To facilitate the achievement of sustainable country driven Reproductive Health Commodity Security. Results: There are 4 corresponding results designed to enhance and facilitate the sustainability of national efforts to achieve RHCS: [1] Enabled environment ensured; [2] National capacity enhanced; [3] Sustainable mechanisms and procedures enhanced; and [4] Coordination enhanced. TORs of Thematic Trust Fund

US$ 75 million contribution from European Union Member States and the European Commission to promote RHCS Dual focus of RHCS Thematic Trust Fund finances: [1] To meet countries’ most critical and immediate shortfalls in reproductive health commodities in 2005 (≥90%); [2] To enhance capacity and facilitate development of sustainable systems and mechanisms at all levels within the country (≤10%) – to eliminate shortfalls and gradually reduce the need for external assistance. RHCS Thematic Trust Fund

  4. Promoting sustainable RHCS at national level • [1] A national budget line for RH commodities • [2] Existence of a functioning national, multi-partite RHCS coordinating mechanism • [3] RH commodities part of national essential drug list • [4] Integrated LMIS and sustainability plan developed

  5. Bearing in mind national contraceptive prevalence and method mix, main selection criteria: [1] Countries with imminent stock-outs [2] Countries with severe HIV/AIDS epidemic [3] UNFPA priority countries or Least Developed Countries [4] Countries undergoing donor phase-out [5] Countries in emergency/humanitarian situations [6] Countries where UNFPA is the sole donor in the population sector Country Selection for RHCS Thematic Trust Fund
