Direct Observation • Counting them 1 by 1 • We went to a garden and counted all the butterflies.
Indirect Observation • When you find there homes and count them and times that by how many live In each one. • We counted blue birds nests and times how many live in each one.
Sampling • Is just a estimation when you count how many trees are in a small area and times that by how big the area is. • We went down to a forest and we were counting pine trees in a 10 acre area .
Mark and Recapture Studies • When they capture an animal and make a mark on it and if they recapture it, it helps them know how many there are. • We went down to the beach and caught hermit crabs and put some paint on there shells and saw if we caught it again.
