  2. Dress for Success • If you want to be a success, you have to dress for it. After all, the clothes make the man (man meaning "mankind" not "male"). That means keeping your clothes neat, clean, and fashionable. And, shining your shoes.

  3. Neatness Is In • Rumpled clothes, • Scuffed shoes • and Flyaway hair is out. And we know this is a tough one, but the research says ratty nails are out too.

  4. For the Interview • Research the company you're interviewing with. Find out the dress requirements. All the ingredients - knowledge, preparation, and appearance, are necessary to make a good impression.

  5. View your dress as a business communications tool • Your outfit speaks loudly about your professionalism. Make sure it’s creating the right impression.

  6. Inappropriate dress • Inappropriate dress is anything that is distracting and calls attention away from the business at hand. Make sure your outfits provide proper coverage at the neckline and hemline.

  7. Plan ahead • Call ahead and ask about the dress code. Receptionists and secretaries are becoming accustomed to answering such questions.

  8. And Finely • As your mother may have told you, sit up straight. When you slouch you look bored. If you're bored, how do you expect your employer to feel? You'll also look more confident if you're sitting or standing up straight. Look like you're happy to be there. Put a smile on your face. Don't fidget, bite your nails, or play with any jewelry you are wearing. Oh yeah -- don't forget to breathe.
