  3. SPARTA - Science Mission Goal Our goal for this experiment is to accurately characterize the atmosphere by investigating relative humidity, temperature and pressure, as it relates to altitude, within the troposphere, tropopause and lower stratosphere.

  4. SPARTA - Science NOAA data Summer 2007 Maximum expected balloon altitude

  5. SPARTA - Science Science Objectives Relative Humidity Measurements above the Tropopause Compare to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration)

  6. SPARTA - Science Science Objectives Maximum expected balloon altitude

  7. SPARTA - Science Science Requirements Maximum altitude expected

  8. SPARTA - Science Scientific Requirements Data points needed: 360 Minimum pressure measurements: 4 mb Minimum Relative Humidity Levels: 0%-5% Altitude Resolution: 500 ft.

  9. SPARTA - Science Technical Requirements Data rate twice per minute External sensors function in -70oC Power supply functions in cold Payload withstands force of landing Recover data after landing

  10. SPARTA - Science Technical Requirements cont. Power ~ 3 hours Interior temperature above -20o C External sensors record temperature and relative humidity Minimal movement inside of Payload
