  1. The Promise of Pinnacle Academy “A Growing and Glowing Learning Community”

  2. Our Mission • Pinnacle Academy’s mission is to immerse all students in a dynamic STEAM-focused, college-oriented, community-embraced environment that fosters industry-ready and globally competitive leaders.

The Pinnacle Academy Journey • Established in 2008 as a preschool-8th grade level program • Offering a rigorous STEM curriculum since its inception • Accredited by AdvancEd, a national accreditation agency, 2016 • Early College High School Program was introduced in 2016 • Curriculum has been updated to STEAM in 2017

  4. The Pinnacle Academy Journey cont. • Has been serving its communities at 2854 Hunter Mill Rd. Oakton, for the past 11 years • Fortunately, purchased the Lakeside II building in 2018. • Has plans to move into Lakeside II as our permanent nest by August 2019 via converting 30,000 sqft of the facility into general school use, once it is approved. • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YptaQRqAM1U

Governance and Funding Structure • The Governing Board consists of mostly PA parents and community members overseeing the overall operation and growth of the program • Pinnacle Administrative Team reports to the Governing Board • Highly engaged, Pinnacle PTO works with the school admin and staff to support our learning community • Every third Tuesday of each month there are PA town hall meetings ( Principal Coffee Hour) during which families and staff meet together for more brainstorming on the growth of our school. • Pinnacle Academy is a 501-c-3 organization, mostly funded by the student tuition revenue and there is small percentage of community donation used to support various student activities.

Academics • Rigor is priority • Preschool-Kindergarten: Social Emotional Growth • 1st-3rd grades: Reading and math foundations to be established • 4th-5th grades: moving into middle schedule and curriculum • 6th-9th grades: Students begin to take high school courses and PSAT tests every year • Second Semester in 9th grades: Students take two college courses from the NVCC Annandale Campus, learning along with regular college students • 10th-12th grades: Students are full time college students and they do not take courses from PA staff any more. • By the end of high school, students have access to receive two diplomas; • Advanced High School Diploma and Associates Degree from NOVA

  7. Student Social Growth • PA does not want students to get stuck within the school building. We want our students to participate in the community events and activities throughout the year on local, state-wide, National and international grounds. • All students are encouraged to participate in various social impact projects of their choice, reaching out to non-Pinnacle Communities, via field trips, presentations, exhibitions, competitions, and service. • Our students exercise “ Come to learn, Go Forth to Serve” throughout their journey at Pinnacle Academy.

The April 22nd Earth Day at Westfields • Our 6th grade level students decided to plant trees between the Lakeside II rear parking area and the residential houses, as we were informed that the residential community was promised a green cushion and it was not fully accomplished. • Our students loved the opportunity to make the World a better place

First Robotics Competition • The most prestigious, National high school robotics event • Led and facilitated by PA Early College students • Competed against 39 high school from MD, DC and Northern Virginia, including Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and many more big dogs • and…

  10. Adopt a Grandparent at Sunshine Senior Residence • Our students visit them frequently and make them feel very special via presenting gifts, cards, and performances…

  11. Visiting the Gesher Jewish Day School after the bomb threats they received last year • After the horrible bomb threat incident at the local Jewish school, our students had extended their hands for support.

The PA Early College Students High School in Africa • Totally student led and facilitated a major humanitarian effort • Endorsed and financed by the World Bank Burkina Faso Office, Northern Virginia Community College, Rotary Club of Annandale, and Pinnacle Academy PTO • Our students raised $33K in seven months and…

  15. The most recent • The 92nd annual Scripps National Spelling Bee is coming up and an Oakton kid will compete this year. More than 560 children from all 50 states will vie for a shot at becoming the nation’s preeminent speller. • Oakton's contestant is 13-year-old Fetin Hussain, an eighth grader at Pinnacle Academy. He competed in the spelling bee last year and tied for 42nd place.   16. Hosting the Regional Science and Engineering Fair in partnership with GMU • For the past 6 years, Pinnacle Academy has been the co-organizer of the regional science and engineering fair for the National Competition sponsored by Broadcom Masters. • Pinnacle is on its way becoming a K-12 STEM Hub for the region

Pinnacle promises to • Continue to work towards its mission on filling the National STEAM gap • Provide a very safe and welcoming learning environment for all students each and every day • Offer meaningfully challenging instructional opportunities to all its students and stretch their intellectual capacities each and every day • Introduce student led and facilitated social impact project venues which will help all our students become better citizens for the World • Establish partnerships with local, state and national organizations which will open new horizons to our students • Prepare all its high school students for the best colleges and universities in the State of VA and the Nation. • In addition to NVCC, establish another Early College partnership with GMU
