Learn how to graph horizontal and vertical lines with their equations. Follow specific guidelines to plot accurately. Includes examples and homework practices.
E N D
Algebra 4.2 Part 2 Horizontal and Vertical Lines
Equation of a Horizontal Line y = b . y = b where the line crosses the Y axis For example: if the lines crosses at the point (0,5) then the equation of the horizontal line is y = 5
Equation of a Vertical Line x = a x = a . where the line crosses the x axis For example: if the lines crosses at the point (-3,0) then the equation of the vertical line is x = -3
Graphing Guidelines • Follow the graphing guidelines: • Graph paper • Ruler • No more then 2 lines per coordinate plane • Label y-intercept • Show plotted points clearly • Axis lines have 2 arrows • Graphed lines have 2 arrows and are long • Label the line with the equation
HOMEWORK • pg. 215 # 36 – 55 It says to graph using a table, you may want to use slope-intercept form to go quicker.
