  7. Network infraestructure must be fitted to new business challenges and to do so we’ll need to use new tecnologies. However, PT has to maintain its legacy networks so this change must be non disruptive.

PSTN/ISDN Simulation/Emulation IMS Sub-system (“Core IMS”) provides the SIP Supplementary Services (“PSTN/ISDN Simulation”) PSTN/ISDN Emulation Sub-system (PES) supports the emulation of PSTN/ISDN services for legacy terminals connected to NGN, through residential or access gateways. PES is a relevant sub-system for Fixed Operators because it allows: • PSTN replacement • Gradual migration with minimum impact on the subscriber side • Easier migration of PSTN/ISDN subscribers to native SIP subscribers.
