  2. About seventy one years ago in the sky of Coventry the biggest air raid of the second world war happened.

  3. On November 14th 1940 German bomber planes arrived in the sky of Coventry. At 7:10 pm the air raid siren sounded. The Germans had arrived...

  4. People ran into their air raid shelters it was the beginning of an eleven hour attack. 1,000 people were offered the chance to be evacuated however 0nly 10% of people accepted the offer.

  5. By 7:30 pm 30,000 parachute flairs were dropped so that the Germans could see there target. Unfortunately St Michaels cathedral fell down after it was hit by a bomb.

  6. 500 people died in the attacks. The flames reached 150ft tall.

  7. At 6:15 am the next day the all clear siren sounded. People drew in their first glimpse of what was Coventry. On November 16th King George 6th made an announcement on the pinnacle of St Michaels cathedral.
