Introduction Pioneer Petrotech Services Inc.(PPS)is an oil and gas service company specializing in engineering, designing and manufacturing of highquality pressure and temperature gauges for oil and gas industry worldwide. Our main office and manufacturing facility is located in Calgary, Canada where we had been incorporated since 1999. The Permanent Downhole Monitoring System (PDMS) was developed by PPS in order to support the increasing demand in the oil and gas industry for continuous downhole pressure and temperature monitoring. The system utilizes the latest technology in pressure transducers and electronics resulting in a long term work stability and reliability.

  6. Hardware Description PDMS consists of four main parts: • Downhole part • Permanent gauge • Cable head • Gauge carrier • Cable part • Permanent downhole cable • Cable protectors • Cable splices • Wellhead Feedthru • Surface control box & Data acquisition

  7. Gauge Carrier • Rugged and Reliable • Machined from one solid block • Materials available to meet any type of downhole environment • Designs for a single or dual gauges are available • Can measure tubing and/or annulus pressure

Permanent Downhole Cable • Reliable Power and Data Transmission • Suitable for HTHP Environment • ¼ inch OD steel outer cable; • Carbon steel 100ºC • 316SS up to 175ºC • I825 up to 175ºC sour service • Operating pressure up to 20,000 psia • Tensile rating >1 tonne typical • Conductor 18 AWG solid or stranded

  9. Cable Protector • Cable protectors are used across the tubing joints to maximize cable protection during PDMS deployment. Heavy and light types of cable protectors are available. • The protector is usually designed to protect all lines being run into the well (chemical injection, hydraulic control, safety valve…).

  11. Data Acquisition • The Data Acquisition System is installed at surface and provides power to the permanent gauge and at the same time serves as a data storage and data transfer device. • PPS has several designs available to meet any type of applications

  12. Software Using PPS27 software, any computer with RS-232 communication port can be connected to the surface control box. The software can load coefficients, change sampling rate, set metering units etc. It can also convert, display, plot, analyze, store, print and transmit the signals from the surface control box.

PDMSAdvantages • Shock Resistance Shock-resistance design was used in the electronic circuit block. • Stability The number of the downhole gauge components was dramatically reduced by incorporating the new integrated circuit technology in the design. • Noise Resistance Noise-resistance technology was used in the design. • High Ability to Process Data PPS data acquisition system has the ability to monitor up to 32 wells at the same time. • Multi-Gauge System Availability Install up to 4 downhole gauges on a single cable. • Data Transmission and Remote Control Downhole real time data can be viewed in your office if satellite or cell phone communication systems are utilized.
