Shaken Baby Syndrome

  • Never shake, bounce, toss or play roughly

  • This can cause serious injuries…even death

  • Work together

  • Caused from a fever “too hot”

  • Cool the child down


Respiratory system

  • Is the number 1 cause of cardiac arrest

  • Children have strong/healthy hearts

  • Children are nose breathers for the 1st three months

    • Upper Airway infection

    • Produces a “Seal-like” bark

  • Epiglottitis

    • Caused by a swollen epiglottis

    • Needs IMMEDIATE care

  • Cabinet Locks/Knob Covers

  • Keep the crib, bassinet or cradle away from windows,window cords and heaters

  • Spaces between slats are 2 3/8” or narrower

  • Snug mattress

  • No pillow, cushions, stuffed animals or small toys
