  3. What is a Bhikkhuni/Bhikshuni? A bhikkhuni (Pali) or bhikshuni (Sanskrit) is a fully-ordained female Buddhist monastic. A bhikkhu/bhikshu is a fully-ordained male monastic. Both bhikkhus & bhikkhunis are ordained by receiving the precepts of the Vinaya (monastic discipline). .
