What We Believe Everyone has the right to live in simple, decent housing.
History and Background of Habitat of Iredell County • Founded in 1985 • 51 Houses completed • Affiliate of Habitat International • Majority of staff are volunteers • Non-profit, faith-based, United Way agency • Serves Iredell County from Troutman North FACT: At least 10,000 people live in poverty in Iredell County.
Mission Focus • Demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ. • Provide a way of sharing between the affluent and those in need. • Work in partnership with local leadership. • Select families in greatest need first. • Construct simple, decent, and affordable houses together. • Sell houses at no profit and no interest using payments to fund more houses.
How Does It Work? • In partnership with the community Habitat offers housing to working families that would not otherwise have access to capital needed to purchase a home. • Habitat builds houses with people, not for them. • Habitat offers a zero percent interest mortgage and uses the payments to fund more homes.

Someone who… Is an Iredell County resident. Has a stable work history. Has a solid credit history. Falls between 25-60% of the median income adjusted for family size. Can make a down payment. Is willing to partner by devoting time to their house and the houses of others. Who is eligiblefor a Habitat Home?

Construction • 900 to 1150 Square Feet of Living Space Based UponFamily Size • The family has an opportunity to affect the design of their home. • Energy star efficient
Volunteers • Do the majority of the construction. • Can commit to anything from one day to several days. • Are accepted at all skill levels. • Can work at the ReStore as cashiers, stock people, and greeters. • Can work on various Board Committees.

When will the house be completed? • Goal for this Women Build project is to finish and dedicate the home by May 10, 2009 (Mother’s Day) • This projected finish date is achievable, based on the growing amount of interest and enthusiasm shown by the women of Iredell County.
