  3. What are common core Georgia performance standards? (CCGPS) • The CCGPS provide a consistent framework to prepare students for success in college and/or the 21st century workplace. These standards represent a common sense next step from the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS).

  4. Why do we need these standards? • Students are prepared no matter where they live for success in postsecondary education and the workforce • Ensure students are receiving a high quality education consistently from school-to-school • Provides teachers with a greater opportunity to share best practices within and across states to better serve the needs of students • Provide an accessible roadmap for teachers, parents, and students

  5. The standards are… • Aligned with college and work expectations • Clear, understandable, and consistent • Contain rigorous content and application of knowledge through higher-order skills • Build upon strengths and lessons of current state standards • Are evidence based
