Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center offers effective conflict resolution training for school aged youth
The Youth Program provides workshops in partnership with K-12 schools, the juvenile justice system, and community organizations
Youth learn to identify the root of conflict, recognize personal triggers, and manage emotions involved in conflict
Youth also learn effective communication skills and strategies to prevent violence
In 2012 WDRC partnered with 15 local schools and community organizations to bring conflict resolution workshops to students throughout Whatcom County
88% of participants reported learning new ways to solve their problems without hurting or scaring others
87% of participants had a better understanding of how human needs related to conflict
