  1. Amazing Race (Week 1) The Number Ninjas: Abby Laiewski Preston Rivers Ashanti Ross Brittany Spruell We are the Number Ninjas

  2. Problem 1 ( Can you beat the Po-Po?) • The equation to use: • D=RT • Distance=(Rate)(Time) Number Ninjas: D=RT will be the equation you will use for this problem and the table underneath has to be used for the proble,

  3. Solving the problem (Part 1) Hi This is Brittany and I am here to help your work out part 1 of this problem US So you have your equation the first thing you will do is divide 85 from both sides. Underneath each equation I explain the steps of the problem as will the other problems Don’t forget to convert your hours to seconds. Your answer is 135.36 seconds. Put you are not quite finished with this problem. Now on to the policeman.

  4. Solving the Problem (Part 2) The Policeman Hello I am Ashanti. I will be walking you through on how to do the second part of problem 1 Start by dividing both sides by 105 mphs Before you do anything else convert the hours into seconds. Now subtract 30 seconds from both sides. 139. 8 sec should be your answer. But don’t forget to check.

  5. Answering the Questions • Is there anyway you can make it to the exit before the cop catches you? Yes, but barely. • If so, how long will it take you to get to the exit? It will take 135.36 seconds. • How long will it take the cop to get to the exit? It will take 139.8 seconds. • If not, how long before the cop catches you? 4.44 seconds • If the exit isn’t close enough to you to shake the cop, how close should the closest exit be? At most, the exit needs to be 2 miles away for you to beat the cop and out-run him by a decent amount.

  6. Problem 2 • Find h so that the equation has a solution set given by {-23} • The equation is:

  7. Solve the Problem Hi I am Preston. I will be helping you work out problem 2 today. Substitute -23 for your x’s Subtract 4 from both sides and then multiply both sides by h After adding 34 to -115 you will get -81 Now divide both sides by -27 and you should get h= 3 DON’T FORGET TO CHECK YOUR ANSWER!

  8. Check Your Answer Hello my name is Abby. I am here to help you check your answer from the previous slide. First you subtract 4 from both sides. Multiply 3 on both sides. Now subtract 34 from both sides Now subtract 3x from both sides of the equation Last thing to do is divide by 2

  9. We are the Number Ninjas! Good luck Everyone and Goodbye!
